Check submission status before resending T4 or T4A slips
CRA warns that resending an electronic submission can create duplicate slips.
A practical filing check
CRA advises against filing the same electronic slips again unless you receive confirmation that the submission was rejected. Keep your submission confirmation with your year-end records.
If a correction is needed
Use the official amendment or cancellation process rather than treating a correction as an entirely new original return. Compare employee totals, payroll records and the submitted summary before making changes.
